Forum Apulum: a 4 years long journey

During my years of working in the NGO sector, I’ve developed a long collaboration with Forum Apulum, an NGO based in Alba Iulia, oriented on the civic and youth sector. They started in a small town, but grew fast and big enough, that they’re now a massive part of the national and international non-profit scene. And they’re loved by the young people in Romania. I have learned so much since meeting them in 2018 and we’ve made a handful of projects that made a difference amongst young people that try to personally develop or people that went through abuse and need a loud voice to represent them. These are only a part of the projects we created together in which I was responsible for the art direction, illustrations, consultancy, and visual identities of the projects.

Ghidul Ilustrat al Elevului (The Illustrated Guide for Students) is a book made in partnership with UNICEF and the National Students’ Council in which we illustrated the rights students have against abuse in their educational institutions. The book proved to be a great tool that many students made themselves justice with. There were thousands of copies that reached every corner of the country, and the tables of many, many students… and teachers!

Dictionarul romanesc de criza (The Romanian Crisis Dictionary) is a book that talks about words or phrases that awaken strong emotions in the Romanians that lived their childhood during the 80’s and 90’s. The Dictionary brings to life the untouched memories of how the world was during times of crisis and makes the new generations get a better insight of the political, social, economic environment of Romania right now. You must know the history in order to understand today’s world.

Gen, revista (Gender Magazine) is a magazine filled with stories, opinions, and art from creative young people in Romania. Gen, Revista is the inclusive space they needed, but didn’t have, to express exactly how they feel without any limitations. Between those pages lay the struggles and aspirations of people that get out of the ordinary and break the patterns. It’s an exercise of transparency and a flag of awareness for the Romanian community that undervalues young people. I was responsible to create their visual identity, page layouts and cover of the magazine. They had thousands of copies that went throughout all of Romania and beyond.

Civicult is an educational platform for NGOs to develop better skills for funding, communicating with young people, holding workshops and insights of the NGO world. I was responsible for the visual identity, website design and for the campaign.

Avem grijă (We take care) is an online campaign that was created during the pandemic. It was a call for Romanian people to show care and concern towards their older members of family or friends that felt lonely during isolation. I was in charge of art direction, illustrations and branding for this project.
